A multi-disciplinary operation conducted in the Plessislaer policing precinct over the weekend resulted in the arrest of three suspects for various crimes.

On 27 October 2019, at 14:30, a vehicle was stopped during an operation at Pata area. A search was conducted and 34 year old woman was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and eight rounds of ammunition. The firearm was found concealed inside a bag. The suspect was placed under arrest for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The team proceeded to Masons Mill after a report was received of a man who was discharging a firearm in a public space. When police arrived at the scene, they found a 23 year old man in possession of an unlicensed firearm with ten rounds of ammunition.

He was also charged for discharging a firearm in a public space.

On the same day at 17:30, a 21 year old suspect was arrested after he was found in possession of a stolen vehicle. He was arrested after he was spotted driving along the Azalea Main Road. The vehicle was intercepted by police and investigations revealed that the vehicle was stolen at Imbali earlier on the same day.

The suspects appeared in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrates Court.
