At approximately 04:00 on Tuesday Marshall Security were alerted to a housebreaking in progress in Mendoza Drive, Umhlanga Rocks.

Information ascertained from the scene indicated that two men forced entry into the home when they were disturbed by the homeowner who pressed his panic button alerting our emergency contact centre. The suspects fled in an unknown direction.

A description of the men was distributed to all Marshall Security vehicles in the area and the two men were later spotted by our Special Operations Team, on Broadwood Drive, a short distance from the initial crime scene.

Upon noticing our team, the men attempted to flee and a foot chase ensued resulting in the arrest of one of the men, his accomplice remains at large.

The suspect was positively identified by the homeowner as being the man who forced entry into his home. A search of the man revealed him to be in possession of various housebreaking implements as well as an okapi knife.

The man was arrested on scene and handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
