Liziwe Ngwayishe (32) was sentenced to two life imprisonment by Durban High Court on 19 September 2019, whereas her co-accused Amahle Bongiwe Maliwa (37) was sentenced to two terms of life imprisonment on 28 August 2019, for two counts of murder. Maliwa pleaded guilty to both charges of murder which were committed in 2017.

In November 2017, the two best friends were reported as missing persons at the Brighton Beach police station. Following an intensive investigation, it was discovered that the boys, Njabulo Mankayi (8) and Luyanda Msomi (10), were kidnapped by the accused outside their school premises.

The search for the accused and the boys continued with the help of the police Search and Rescue Unit and K9 Unit. A few days later, their decomposed bodies were discovered in a canal within the Brighton Beach policing precinct and on a railway line in Clairwood.

The two children were kidnapped by two accused and taken to a house in Clairwood. While at the house, they were forced to drink a poisonous substance and they were strangled. Their bodies were dumped and the motive for killing of the boys was as a result of a domestic related falling-out.
