On 11 October 2019 at 17:00, police received intelligence with regards to a vehicle on Waterkant Road in Durban North. On further investigation police officers found three occupants inside the vehicle.

During a search police seized ammunition and toy guns that were found in the suspect’s possession. Preliminary investigations uncovered that the vehicle was stolen at Gauteng last month. Three men aged between 23 and 40 were placed under arrest. They are expected to appear in the Durban Magistrates Court on Monday 14 October 2019, facing charges for being in possession of suspected stolen property and illegal possession of ammunition.

In another incident, on 12 October 2019 just after midnight, police officers reacted to intelligence with regards to a stolen vehicle in the vicinity of Cardinal Road in Phoenix.

Upon further investigation it was discovered that the vehicle was fitted with false registration plates and that the said vehicle was stolen at Durban North on 10 October 2019. A 32 year old suspect was arrested for possession of suspected stolen property. He will appear in the Verulam Magistrates Court on Monday 14 October 2019.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula commended police officers for their visible presence on our streets and being able to react swiftly to intelligence with regards to criminality.
