On 11 April 2017 at 03:15, police members responsible for Borderline duties spotted a suspicious white double cab Toyota 4×4 in the Ezintombini area, Ndumo.

The members signaled the suspects to stop however the suspects attempted to knock the police vehicle and pointed a firearm at the police.

Police fired shots at the suspects and a chase ensued.

The suspect’s vehicle lost control and capsized.

Two suspects believed to be in their thirties died at the scene.

It was established that the vehicle was hijacked in Delmark, Mpumalanga province yesterday.

The complainants’ property was also found from the deceased suspects. Charges of inquest, possession of suspected stolen property and pointing of a firearm were opened for investigation at Ndumo SAPS.
