Two alleged drug runners aged 36 and 38 are due to appear in the Verulam Magistrates’ Court on 6 September 2019, facing the charges of dealing and possession of drugs.

On 5 September 2019 members from the Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation working together with Metro Police Drug Task Team and Shongweni K9 unit conducted a disruptive operation in Verulam area. Members swooped on the suspects and a search was conducted in one of the suspect’s vehicle. Police found almost 2399 heroine capsules hidden in the vehicle.

A further search was conducted in the suspect’s house and a further 637 heroine capsules, 83 mandrax tablets as well as 11 broken pieces of mandrax were seized.

The drugs, cash and the vehicle which run into thousands of rands have since been seized.
