Two suspects were arrested by members of Reaction Unit South Africa after they robbed a home in Wattle Street, Trenance Park – Verulam on 16 April 2017.
At approximately 00:27 Reaction Officers were dispatched to the residence after receiving a call from a member of public reporting the incident. Upon arrival it was established that 3 suspects forcefully gained access into the home and held two females, aged 18 and 24, as well as a 5 year old child at gunpoint. The suspects robbed the victims of their cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene on foot.
The victims provided Officers with a clothing description of the suspects. While on patrol Reaction Officers spotted two of the three suspects walking on Cottonwood Drive. The Officers apprehended the suspects who were positively identified by the victims. The suspects claimed that the stolen items and the firearm was with their accomplice who had fled in an unknown direction after the robbery.
Both suspects were placed under arrest and handed over to authorities for further investigation.
