At 22H36 Monday evening Netcare 911 responded to reports of a serious collision on Lighthouse road, Umhlanga.
Reports from the scene indicate that two light motor vehicles were involved in a head on collision.
Three people were injured in the collision with two of the patients requiring advanced life intervention due to the nature of their injuries.
The Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services used the “Jaws of Life” to free one of the occupants from the wreckage.
All the patients were transported by ambulance to hospital for further assessment and care.
The Durban North SAPS were on scene and be investigating circumstances that led to the collision.
