Blue Security armed response officers arrested two alleged housebreakers in the Highway area yesterday.
Suspect apprehended in Hillcrest Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said an officer had responded to an alarm activation at a property in Gillitt Road in Hillcrest, where he spotted a suspect fleeing the scene at around 3.30pm.
“He noticed that the door of a tool shed had been forced open on the property. A second officer who was patrolling the area noticed the suspect in a nearby sugarcane field and gave chase. He arrested the suspect and recovered a bag containing a clock, a pair of boots and a petrol blower that was missing from the shed,” Jackson said.
Jackson added that an armed response officer arrested a housebreaker as he fled the scene of the crime at a business premises in Circuit Road in Westmead at around 8.15am.
“Our officer arrived at the scene and chased down and arrested the suspect who was found in the workshop area of the business and attempted to flee the scene. He had climbed into the property through a window,” he said.
Pinetown SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
