Isipingo police foiled a robbery at a business premises in the CBD and arrested two suspects. Police seized a revolver, a homemade firearm and a knife that was used in an attempt to rob the business premises.

On 16 August 2019, police received a report of a robbery at a business premises in Thomas Lane. They proceeded to the area and when they arrived they discovered that the suspects had fled without taking any property as they had heard the sirens of approaching police vehicles.

Police continued with the investigation and in a follow up operation that was conducted, they arrested two suspects fitting the description provided. The suspects were found with a bag in their possession which contained a revolver, a homemade firearm and a knife.

The suspects aged 21 and 22 will be charged for attempted armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition as well as for possession of a dangerous weapon.

They will appear in the Durban Magistrates Court on Monday, 19 August 2019. Police patrols and visibility in the CBD has been stepped up to curb criminal activities.
