Two armed robbers swiftly arrested in Durban

Great police teamwork with assistance from the police Airwing and K9 Unit yielded excellent results at Sydenham on Friday 7 July 2017 when police arrested two suspects who were involved in an armed robbery at Flaherty Road, Clare Estate.

The arrested suspects aged 26 and 35 will be charged for armed robbery, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. They will appear in the Durban Magistrates’ Court on 11 July 2017.

On 7 July 2017 at about 16:45, the victim was at his place of work paying his workers when he was accosted by three males who were armed with firearms. They took an unknown amount of cash, cell phones and fled.

The crime prevention members were patrolling down the road when they noticed suspects fleeing the scene. The suspects fired shots at the police and fled into the nearby construction site.

Airwing and K9 Unit responded and gave chase to the fleeing suspects. The first suspect was arrested and was found in possession of a pistol with 16 live rounds of ammunition. The second suspect was arrested in a nearby bushes and the third suspect is still sought.
