The 45 year old man accused of murdering three women at their flat in Tssvir Gardens on Longcroft Drive in Unit 8 – Phoenix is believed to have faked a seizure to avoid his court appearance today, Tuesday 25 September 2018.

At approximately 11:23 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to the grills of the Verulam Family Court on Todd Street to provide medical attention for the accused. Upon arrival Medics accessed the suspect and found that his symptoms were not conclusive with a seizure.

During treatment he suddenly regained consciousness and declined further medical assistance. He was then led back to court where he appeared before a magistrate and was denied bail. He was remanded to Westville Prison and is due back in court in early October.

The man is accused of murdering Jane Govender (44) and her two daughters Denisha (22) and Nikita (16) in their two bedroom flat this past Friday 21 September 2018. The discovery was made by Jane’s husband who arrived home after working night shift and found the front door locked.

He climbed through a window in the balcony and discovered the body of his wife and teenage daughter. Denisha could not be located and was initially reported missing until Police discovered her body in a cupboard in one of the bedrooms. She had been stabbed while her mother and sibling are believed to have been strangled.

All three women were allegedly gagged.

Police investigating the triple murder tracked the suspect and arrested him a day later. He is allegedly known to the family and waited for each of his victims to return home when they were murdered.

The motive for the murders is unconfirmed at this stage.
