Three suspects aged between 32 and 40 are appearing before the Durban Magistrate’s Court on 16 March 2021, on charges of fraud amounting to R1,4 Million.

Their arrest follows an intensive investigation conducted by the investigating officer attached to the Provincial Commercial Crime Unit. It is alleged that between October 2015 until 22 August 2016 a known suspect allegedly channelled money into three different bank accounts that were unknown to the institution.

The money was for National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) funded students at one of the colleges in Durban. A case of fraud was opened at KwaMakhutha SAPS for investigation.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner for KwaZulu-Natal, Major General Thulani welcomed the arrest of the suspects.
