On 12 November 2018, at 10:45, members of the Public Order Police attached to the Provincial Task Team responded to a robbery at Pixley kaSeme Street in the Durban. The police officers together with a security company spotted a local minibus taxi on Yusuf Dadoo Street far from the scene.

The suspects attempted to make use of the said minibus taxi after they fled the scene on foot.

They were apprehended by the police and detained. An unlicensed firearm, cash as well as a motor vehicle key were found on the suspects. The suspects who are aged between 24 and 26 years, are due to appear in the Durban Magistrates Court soon facing charges of armed robbery and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

On further investigation at the scene, police officers found a vehicle parked near the business premises that was robbed. The vehicle key found on the suspects was used to open the said vehicle and suspected stolen cellphones loaded in a bag were found in the vehicle trunk.

It is alleged that the three suspects approached a business premises at Pixley kaSeme Street where they threatened the staff before they stole new cell phones and cash at gunpoint.

Police and security personnel were alerted and a description of the suspects was given to them which led to the arrests.
