This weekend saw the successful arrest of three suspects in connection with various crimes across the greater north Durban area.

In the first incident, a man was arrested by Marshall security armed reaction officers after attempting to rob a couple at a service station in Chris Hani Road. The suspect produced a handgun demanding the victim’s belongings. The armed reaction officer intervened and managed to apprehend the suspect. It was later ascertained that the pistol the man brandished, was, in fact, a toy gun. The man was arrested and handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.

In a second incident, Marshall Security were alerted to a housebreaking which had occurred in Casuarina Circle, in the Glenhills area. Reports from the scene indicated that a male suspect scaled a boundary wall before forcing entry into the home. The suspect was disturbed by the homeowner and he fled in an unknown direction.

A description of the suspect was circulated to all Marshall Security vehicles in the area and a man matching the description was spotted on Rinaldo Road. The man was later positively identified by the homeowner as being the man who entered his property. A search revealed the man to be in possession of various housebreaking implements. He was arrested handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.

Finally, just after lunchtime on Saturday, Marshall Security received an alert via one of our dedicated Whatsapp community crime groups, to a mountain bike which had been stolen from a residence in Wilden Place, La Lucia.

A photo of the bicycle was distributed to all Marshall Security vehicles to be on the lookout and approximately fifteen minutes after the initial alert was received, an armed reaction officer on patrol in the Glenashley area noticed a man pushing a bicycle near the intersection of Davallen Avenue and Lindsay Drive. The bicycle was confirmed to be the same one stolen from Wilden Place.

The suspect was arrested on site and handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
