Three people were injured in a Shongweni shooting when suspects opened fire on their vehicle as they were driving near Milky Way Road yesterday afternoon.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said that reports from the scene indicated that four people were on their way home from the funeral of a taxi industry operator in KwaNdengezi when the shooting occurred. The incident occurred at around 2.10pm.
“Reports from the scene indicate that unknown suspects had used an AK47 and a 9mm pistol to open fire on the victims’ vehicle. The driver whose vehicle was being shot at lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the gate of a property in Milky Way Road. Three people were injured during the shooting. Their friends arrived at the scene and transported them to hospital,” Mathios said.
Netcare 911 Paramedics and the SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
