On the night of 17 April 2020, police officers and other law enforcement agencies conducted an intelligence driven operation aimed at solving burglary cases on business premises. Police proceeded to KwaMakhutha where they arrested two suspects aged 30 and 36 and recovered a vehicle that that was allegedly used during the commission of the crime.

It is alleged that on 11 April 2020, security guards discovered that a business premises on Arbour Road in Amanzimtoti was broken into. Liquor valued at more than R40 000-00 was stolen.

A case of burglary was opened at Amanzimtoti police station for investigation. Police investigations led to the arrest of the suspects. The suspects will be charged and will appear in the Durban Magistrates Court soon.

An investigation is continuing to determine if they are linked to similar cases.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula commended the police officers for the arrests.
