A suspect that was scammed several victims in Johannesburg has been arrested by members of Reaction Unit South Africa in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

34 year old Tahamlan Naidoo also know as King who resided in Germiston, Gauteng temporarily and in Unit 7 Chatsworth was arrested after he stole jewelry valued at R150 000 from the home of a businessman.

Naidoo stole the jewels when the Gauteng based businessman offered him a place to sleepover at his sisters home in Verulam when they traveled to KwaZulu-Natal last week. When the family awoke the next morning, the suspect had left the home and returned later the same day. The theft of jewels was discovered a few hours later.

Reaction Officers arrested the suspect when the complainant arrived at the RUSA Offices to seeking assistance after they were visited by the suspect. The family kept the suspect occupied until Officers arrived on scene and arrested him.

The suspect initially denied knowledge of the jewels. During an interview he eventually informed Reaction Officers that he sold the jewels for R8000 in cash and used the money to purchase cocaine.
