Swift team work between Blue Security armed response officers, the police and community policing officers lead to the arrest of six suspects across Durban yesterday.
Blue Security media and community liaison officer Andreas Mathios said armed response officers, the police and community policing officers (COP) chased a range of four suspects, who attempted to break into a property in Foreshore Drive on the Bluff, at around 9pm last night.
“The gang damaged the back door of the property, but were disturbed by our armed response officer who responded to the scene. They fled with our officer, Brighton Beach police officers and COP in pursuit who cornered them in Edwin Swales Drive,” Mathios said.
Brighton Beach SAPS took the suspects into custody.
In a separate incident on the Bluff, an armed response officer arrested a suspect who was stealing scrap metal from a property in Marine Drive at around 6.45am. He was handed over to the Brighton Beach SAPS.
Mathios said an officer arrested an alleged burglar in Worman Place in Durban North at around 8.15am yesterday. “The suspect had derailed the driveway gate and gained entry into the domestic worker’s quarters. Our officer arrested him and handed him over to the Durban North police who attended the scene of the crime,” he said.
