Taxi boss dies after being shot 9 times, Waterloo

A 38 year old taxi boss died shortly after his arrival at Osindisweni Government Hospital following a shooting at the Waterloo Taxi Rank in Waterloo, Verulam on Monday evening, 15 June 2020.

At approximately 20:50 the victim was driven to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) offices in his white Toyota Corolla. Medics treated him for four gunshot wounds to his abdomen, three to his right arm and two to his left arm.

Medics stabilized him before transporting him to hospital in a critical condition. The victim died shortly after his arrival at the hospital.

It is alleged that the man was seated in his Toyota Corolla in the taxi rank when he was approached by unknown men who opened fire on him and hit him nine times.

The gunmen fled the scene leaving the victim for dead. The man’s friend was informed of the shooting and on arrival at the taxi rank he moved the victim to the passenger seat and drove him to RUSA offices for medical attention.

A case of murder is being investigated.
