Swift response sees Morningside business robber arrested, Durban
Swift response sees Morningside business robber arrested, Durban

On 29 February 2020, at 18:36, the complainant was at a business premises in Morningside, when an unknown men entered and pretended to be buying cigarettes.

At gunpoint the suspects assaulted the victim at the back of his head, took money from the tills as well as cigarettes before fleeing the scene in their getaway vehicle. A case of robbery was opened at Durban Central SAPS.

On 2 March 2020, the Durban Central Task Team followed information about the suspects involved in the robbery. A stationary vehicle was located in the Durban CBD with the driver inside.

A 26-year-old suspect was placed under arrest for robbery. His cellphone was also seized by the team. The vehicle was also impounded for further investigation. More arrests are imminent. The suspect is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrates’ Court.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula commended the team for the swift arrest of the suspect.
