AK-47 Wielding suspects opened fire on Police at Phoenix Plaza last night during a break-in and robbery at a jewelry store in KwaZulu-Natal.
At approx 23:21 Reaction Unit South Africa received several calls of a shooting in progress near the Phoenix Plaza.
Upon arrival on the scene Reaction Officers were informed that the Police had responded to a break-in and were fired upon by several suspects.
A police vehicle was damaged in the shooting and no injuries were reported.
Information received that a blue Audi S3 and a white Mercedes were used by the suspects, however this could not be confirmed.
