KWAZULU-NATAL – On Thursday 17 August 2023, the Hawks members from Pietermaritzburg Serious Organised Crime Investigation and Crime Intelligence arrested a 52-year-old suspect for dealing in drugs.
Members received information about a suspect who was transporting drugs. They proceeded to the service station where the suspect was going to meet his accomplice. An observation was made and he was spotted jumping out of the meter taxi. He was searched and nine jaws of cocaine were found in his possession.
He was arrested and taken to his place of residence where a further search was conducted. During the search, 23 pieces of crack cocaine were found. The street value of the seized drugs is approximately R34 000.00. He is expected to appear in the Hammersdale Magistrate’s Court today.
The KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General Lesetja Senona applauded the members for the arrest of the suspect.
