An intelligence-led operation conducted by police officers from the Provincial Drugs and Firearms Unit produced desired results when a foreign national was arrested after he was found in possession of methcathinone and crystal meth with an estimated street value of over R100 000-00 on Gillespie Street in Point on Wednesday, 20 September 2023.

Further intelligence led police officers to a block of flats in Point where cocaine powder and more methcathinone, also estimated to a street value of over R100 000 were found abandoned. Investigations to locate the possible owner of the illegal drugs are underway.

The 39-year-old suspect was expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 21 September 2023, facing charges of illegal possession and dealing in drugs.
