The police officers from the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit continue to be on high-alert on the illegal drug trade in the province.

The recent results of the operations conducted have reaped good results. The operation was carried out on 21 April 2020, at Point and surrounding areas in Durban where the criminal activities were suspected to be taking place. Whilst they were busy, they spotted an e-hailing vehicle driving along Smith Street. The said vehicle was stopped and a search was conducted.

Upon searching the vehicle, the team discovered four clear plastic pockets containing heroine from the passenger. The total value of the recovered drugs is estimated at R10 000-00.

A 28-year-old man was placed under arrest for possession of drugs at Point SAPS. He is appearing in the Durban Magistrates’ Court.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula praised the team in their effort to root-out drugs in the province.
