The self-proclaimed “whistleblower” in the Sindiso Magaqa murder case, Smangaliso Thabiso Zulu was arrested and charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (Assault GBH).

On 11 September 2021 at 16:50, a seven month pregnant woman was canvassing for a position of Ward Councillor at Hanniville community hall when she was allegedly assaulted by Thabiso Zulu.

The KwaZulu-Natal Political Task Team conducted investigations into this case and subsequently arrested and detained Zulu for Assault GBH.

The accused appeared in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court on 11 October 2021 before he was released on bail.

The accused is expected to reappear in court on 9 November 2021.
