Suspect arrested after barking dogs alerts Kloof resident to intruders

Blue Security armed response officers arrested an alleged housebreaking suspect in Kloof on 28 February 2019.

Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said a resident in Bellevue Road spotted two suspects when she was alerted to their presence by her barking dogs. The incident occurred at around 10.50am

“Investigating the dogs’ barking, the resident saw two intruders in the garden after they had derailed the driveway gate to gain entry,” Mathios said. “Startled, the suspects fled on foot towards Edgecliff Drive and into some nearby bushes in a bid to evade arrest.”

“Our officer responded to the scene where the resident gave him a description of the suspects, and he managed to track down and arrest one of them,” Mathios said.

The suspect was handed over to the SAPS who attended the scene of the crime.

Mathios added that in a separate incident in Crestholme armed response officers arrested two suspects for allegedly stealing a trolley and loading it with a steel pipe at around 3.30pm in the afternoon. “The officer responded to information received that suspicious individuals had been seen in the area. When he investigated, he found two suspects walking along Rainbow Drive pushing a trolley with a large steel pipe inside it,” he said.

“He questioned the suspects regarding where they had obtained the trolley and pipe before placing them under arrest and handing them over to the Hillcrest SAPS who attended the scene,” Mathios said.
