EThekwini Outer South Cluster Task Team with Umlazi K9 and KwaMakhutha police were searching for criminals involved in a robbery of a supermarket when they arrested an 18 year old suspect at Folweni.
It is alleged that on 23 September 2019, six armed males entered a supermarket on Sheleni Road in Adams Mission, robbed the employees of an undisclosed amount of cash, grocery, cigarettes and cellphones. They then fled in their getaway vehicle.
A case of business robbery was opened at KwaMakhutha police station for investigation. Police commenced their investigation which led them to Folweni where the suspects’ vehicle was spotted. The suspect was arrested and some of the stolen property was recovered.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was hijacked in Lamontville. The suspect was taken into custody in Folweni police station where he was charged for possession of suspected stolen property. He will also be charged for KwaMakhutha robbery and also be linked to Lamontville carjacking.
He will appear in court soon.
