Successful partnership established between Road and Safety Directorate, South African Taxi Council & Scientology Volunteer Ministers

Two weeks ago, a Scientology Volunteer Ministers team was formed in KZN, to assist during the lockdown. Following the successful pattern in Gauteng Scientology Volunteer Ministers teams where so far, more than 7000 buildings as well as more than 101,000 taxis, ambulances and police cars were sanitized, the KZN team went ahead forming partnership with the KZN Road and Safety Directorate under the Kwa Zulu Natal Department of Transport and SANTACO.

As part of the social distancing community project that the Road and Safety Directorate is undertaking officials met mid-May with representatives from the Scientology Volunteer Ministers to discuss the services they could offer. They confirmed they could assist through sanitizing taxis so as to protect the citizens using that transport facility – an important task since taxis carry 65% of the public transport passengers.

Importantly as well, the Volunteer Ministers offered to educate the drivers of the vehicles to take responsibility for the continuous cleaning of the vehicle and provide them with information booklets on how to remain safe and well during the pandemic. The partnership was established to be for the period of 28 May to 30 May.

After sanitizing 2033 taxis in 3 days, the Department of Transport, Province of KwaZulu Natal concluded, “The project has demonstrated how a structured but adaptable collaboration model can mobilise organizations to achieve a common goal. The Road Safety Directorate and SANTACO could not have achieved this level of progress alone and therefore we would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to the Scientology Volunteer Ministers and specially the team serving in KwaZulu Natal for the service that you have rendered to vulnerable communities. Working together we can save lines!”

Xochitl Kgosana, Public Affairs for the Scientology Volunteer Ministers in KwaZulu Natal said, “We are empowered with the Volunteer Minister technology written by L. Ron Hubbard more than 50 years ago for South Africa. This comes with a big responsibility. And we use it at the service of our fellowman with pride and dignity.”
