The swift response of police officers at a business robbery in Croftdene has resulted in the arrest of three suspects.

On 10 December 2019, at 10:00, a report of a robbery was received at the Chatsworth police station. When police officers from Chatsworth arrived at the crime scene they found the store manageress in a state of shock following the ordeal.

After interviewing the manageress, police established that the statement given was contradictory. Further investigations led to the manageress informing police that the business robbery was staged with the help of the accomplices.

Police seized cash from a vehicle belonging to the accused’s boyfriend whilst a further two suspects were arrested. Police seized a large amount in cash and cellphones alleged to be used during the commission of the crime.

The manageress (22) will also be charged for defeating the ends of justice. All three suspects aged between 22 and 32 are expected to appear before the Chatsworth Magistrates Court on 12 December 2019.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula praised the police officers for the swift arrest of the suspects. “These arrests serve as a reminder to citizens that they should not open false cases. Those who do so must be willing to face the consequences,” he said.
