On Wednesday, February 8, between 20H00 and 21H00 on the suiker smallholding situated in Empangeni district of KwaZulu-Natal, two victims were savagely hacked with pangas.

Apparently, there was a labor/pay related dispute by three ad-hoc/former employees who took revenge by hacking the two residents with a cane knife/panga. A devastating attack that left two people seriously injured and the place covered in blood.

When a neighbor heard the commotion, he intervened and threw bricks at the suspects, who fled on foot without stealing anything.

The two residents, the man in his fifties, and his female friend (30) were taken to the hospital. The man is in a stable condition and the woman is in a critical state.

The police are searching for the suspects and the investigation continues.
