Durban Organised Crime Hawks members assisted by Crime Intelligence unit arrested six suspects aged between 38 and 54 years for dealing in drugs in Umhlanga on 24 June 2017.

Hawks members received information about drug dealing activities in one of the flats near Gateway in Umhlanga.

An intelligence driven operation was conducted and the six suspects were caught red handed packaging heroin capsules. They were subsequently arrested and charged for dealing in drugs.

Members seized 2.5 kilograms of heroin powder, 10 000 heroin capsules, 4000 mandrax tablets and 1000 ecstasy tablets to the street value of approximately R1.2 million.

The equipment used was also confiscated.

The arrested suspects are due to appear in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court on 26 June 2017.
