Six people have been injured after a truck and a car collided at the intersection of Clark Road and Manning Road in Berea just after 14:30 today.

Rescue Care spokesman, Garrith Jamieson, said, “Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find that a truck and a car had collided at the junction before the truck came to rest on its side balancing on a wall of a property.

The truck driver and one assistant were entrapped in the truck as it lay on its side.

Paramedics climbed into the truck and stabilised the two whilst Durban Fire and Rescue prepared the Jaws of Life and other hydraulic equipment to free the two.

Once the patients had been freed from the truck they were then transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that they required.

One other assistant was also injured and transported to hospital.

In the second vehicle three people had sustained various injuries and were also stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital.”

At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on scene and will be investigating further.
