Chatsworth detectives conducted an intelligence driven operation pursuing a suspect wanted for various crimes such as murder, house robbery and carjacking. The suspect (22) was located at a Durban hospital where he was admitted for gunshot wounds. He was arrested and now is under police guard at the same hospital.

On further investigation, it was discovered that the suspect was allegedly shot during a house robbery and murder at Welbedacht West in Chatsworth. The suspect will appear at the Chatsworth Magistrates Court once he has recovered. His accomplice is still at large and police officers are still looking for him.

On 12 January 2019 at 2:00, the victim Raphael Dube was at his house at Welbedacht West when he was approached by two suspects at gunpoint who entered the house through the window. The victim owns a tavern attached to his house. The suspects allegedly demanded cash as well as house keys from the victim. When the victim shouted for help, he was shot and killed by the suspects. They stole an undisclosed amount of cash before they fled the scene.

As they were fleeing the scene in the victim’s vehicle they allegedly shot a bystander on the stomach and he retaliated. One suspect was wounded but they both managed to flee the scene on foot leaving the vehicle behind.

A case of robbery and murder was opened at Chatsworth police station for further investigation. After the suspect was profiled, it was discovered that he was wanted by Greenwood Park police for killing a security guard this month.
