Intelligence was received about a group of armed men who were planning to rob a supermarket at a shopping centre in Nsuze. An operation was put in place and police officers from National Intervention Unit as well as local police were summoned to the identified place.

On 4 April 2022, at 09:50, a group of heavily armed men were spotted after they arrived in two vehicles.

The men entered the shopping centre and a shoot-out ensued.

During the shoot-out, one of the suspects was fatally wounded and another suspect (35) was wounded.

Police further arrested 58-year-old suspect who was found in possession of a revolver with ammunition. The deceased suspect believed to be in his thirties was found in possession of a pistol with ammunition.

Charges of attempted robbery, attempted murder, inquest as well as unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition have been opened for investigation.
