On 26 June 2017, Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a shooting incident in the Bhomela area of Shelly Beach.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and found a female estimated to be in her late thirties, lying on the floor of the lounge with multiple gunshot wounds to the face, chest, and arm.

The Netcare 911 advanced life support paramedic and her team worked fervently at the scene to stabilize the patient.

After she was placed on a ventilator, and skilfully immobilized on a trauma board, they transported her to a specialized hospital for the care that she required.
