At 18:15 on 20 June 2017, Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a shooting incident at the Shongweni Railway Station in Inchanga West, Kwazulu Natal. Reports from the scene indicate that the man was shot and beaten at the station. He was lying on the platform with his head over the edge when he was struck by a train.

The Netcare 911 advanced Life Support paramedics and his team arrived at the scene and found the man to have sustained life-threatening injuries.

Paramedics stabilised the thirty-six-year-old man at the scene, and after he was placed on a ventilator and spinally immobilised, they loaded him into the ambulance.

The man’s condition deteriorated to such an extent, that the paramedics started with advanced Life Support resuscitation.

Tragically, despite all their efforts the man was declared dead at the scene and then transported to a mortuary.
