59 Year old Dan Pillay has died in hospital after he was shot in the chest by two men that robbed him of his firearm on Walter Reid Road in Maidstone, Tongaat.

Pillay was a manager at Jikelele Security which is based in Tongaat. He was visiting a client’s premises when he was accosted by two suspects as he alighted from his vehicle. Without warning one of the suspects shot Pillay in the chest and robbed him of his 9mm Browning pistol and fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The incident was witnessed by bystanders and Pillay’s security guards who he was visiting when the incident occured.

Reaction Unit South Africa received a call for assistance from the director of the security company that Pillay was employed at. On arrival the critically injured victim was being treated by Paramedics for a gunshot wound to his chest.

He was stabilized on scene before being airlifted to hospital where he later succumb to his injuries. Reaction Officers conducted an extensive search for the perpetrators however they still remain at large.
