A security guard, believed to be in his thirties, was left in a critical condition after he was shot during an armed robbery at a filling station along the N3 between Cato Ridge and Hammarsdale last night.
Shortly before 6pm paramedics from ER24 arrived on the scene where they found the security guard lying on the forecourt of the filling station. The paramedics found that he had a severe wound to his head. He was in a critical condition and paramedics had to place him on life support.
Once stabilised, he was rushed to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
It appeared that no one else was injured in this shooting incident. Police attended the scene and will conduct an investigation.
