Police officers from the Pietermaritzburg K9 swooped in on an apartment in St Patricks Road, Scottsville where they arrested a 27 year old female. The suspect was arrested after she was found dealing in drugs at her residence. Police confiscated 300 heroin capsules, cocaine powder and dagga with a combined street value of R16 200-00. Cash suspected to be the proceeds of drug trade was also seized.

The suspect was charged for dealing in drugs and was taken to Alexandra Road police station for detention. She is appearing at the Pietermaritzburg Magistrates Court today. Police are continuing with similar operations in the area to root out the drug trade.

In another operation that was conducted in the early hours of this morning, Alexandra Road police arrested a 35 year old male for theft. It is alleged that he was found near a tower on Richmond Road near Grange, loading tower batteries into a bakkie.

Police recovered cell phone tower batteries, a crowbar, a metal square bar and a valve with a total value of R80 000. His bakkie was also seized and impounded pending further investigation.

The suspect will be charged for theft and will appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrates Court soon.
