Two South African Revenue Services Customs officials aged 43 and 44 are expected to appear at the Durban Magistrate Court on 5 March 2018 on charges of corruption.

The suspects were arrested in a sting operation involving the Hawks’ Durban Serious Corruption Investigation, Crime Intelligence and the members from the Special Task Force Unit last week Thursday 1 March 2018.

They allegedly demanded R200 000.00 bribe from a business man in order to evade tax obligations. The matter was reported to the Hawks and an undercover operation was conducted. They were caught red handed after receiving cash from the complainant.

They were placed under arrest and charged accordingly.
