Police officers in the province are persevering with operations to rid the province of drugs. On a daily basis operations at police stations across the province are bearing excellent results as police officers arrest suspects and seize drugs found in their possession.

On 15 August 2019, police officers from the Amajuba Cluster conducted operations aimed at cleaning up the streets in Newcastle. They seized seven blocks of rock cocaine from a suspect and he was arrested. The suspect (27) was charged with dealing in drugs. He is expected to appear at the Newcastle Magistrate’s Court on Monday 19 August 2019.

At the Ugu Cluster, police officers conducted operations at Mfazazana where they arrested a 36 year old suspect for possession of drugs. He was found in possession of a packet with heroin capsules. The officers also processed to Marburg in Port Shepstone where they arrested a 26 year old suspect for possession of drugs. He was found in possession of 10 large pieces of rock cocaine and 36 capsules of heroin.

Drug operations were also conducted at Esikhaleni where two men were arrested for possession of drugs as well as possession of property suspected to be stolen. Drugs and a suspected stolen cellphone were seized from the suspects.
