Two men who stole a bag containing a cellphone and other valuables on Jacaranda Avenue in Mountview were arrested in Brindhaven by members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) on Thursday 28 May 2020.

At approximately 14:37 Reaction Officers were called out to the property after both suspects were seen fleeing the scene with a bag belonging to a gardener. On arrival RUSA Officers were provided with a clothing description of the two.

The suspects were spotted by Officers on Glenhaven Drive in Brindhaven. One suspect was immediately arrested and a Nokia cellphone belonging to the victim was recovered in his possession. The second suspect was apprehended on Larkspur Drive as he attempted to make a getaway.

Both suspects were transported back to the scene where they were positively identified by the victim. Several residents in the area complained that the two men were habitual criminals and were responsible for several thefts and house break-ins in the area. One resident claimed that the two had previously stolen their pet chickens.
Both suspects were handed over to Police and detained at the Verulam SAPS.
