Whilst on routine patrol in Ebony Drive in the Glen Ashley area on Wednesday afternoon, a Marshall Security armed reaction officer noticed a suspicious looking male carrying a black refuse bag. When the reaction officer questioned the man, he reveled the contents of the bag to be a garden blower which he stated he had found under a tree in the area.
When the officer asked the man to show him where he had found the blower, a resident in Maryland Avenue confirmed that their landscaping assistant had been working on their verge with the blower and had gone into the property to collect something. On his return he noticed the suspect had stolen the machine and was running up the road.
The suspect was arrested and handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing.
