Armed robbers fired a shot at a Blue Security armed response officer when he disturbed them at the scene of a business robbery in Jacobs in the early hours of this morning.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said the officer had responded to the scene of the crime in Chamberlain Road just after 5am this morning. “The suspects were still on the premises in a white VW Polo when our officer arrived at the scene. One of the suspects fired a shot at the officer before they fled the scene with laptops and a flat screen television which they had stolen from the business premises,” Mathios said.
“Upon investigation it was found that the suspects had approached the security guard and asked him for a drink of water, when they held him up and then forced open the front reception door of the building. No injuries were reported,” Mathios said.
Wentworth SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
In a separate business robbery in the south, brazen robbers arrived at a business premises in Amanzimtoti driving their own trucks and hitched up two trailers with containers on them before fleeing the scene over the weekend.
