Robbers open fire on security vehicle, officer wounded, Inanda

A Security Officer was shot after robbers opened fire on their vehicle on the M25 in Inanda on Tuesday afternoon 12 January 2021. Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance at approximately 16:22.

Available Reaction Officers were dispatched approximately 1 kilometer away from Dube Village where heavy armed suspects opened fire on a VW Polo belonging to Dragon Protection Services.

On arrival several private security companies as well as the South African Police were found to be in attendance. It was established that four armed suspects robbed a Tattersalls in Dube Village and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Security Officers crossed paths with the robbers as they made their getaway. The suspects opened fire on the responding vehicle before splitting up and fleeing in different directions. One Officer was shot in the leg. He was treated by Paramedics.
