Robbers Force their Way into Glenwood Home

Two Glenwood residents were assaulted and robbed of valuables in their home on Tuesday.

“The incident occurred when four armed suspects entered a property by forcing the magnetic locks on the pedestrian gate and confronting the resident in his yard,” said Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios. “The suspects, who wore face masks and leather gloves, grabbed one of the residents and shoved him into the house while clubbing him over the head repeatedly with a blunt instrument,” Mathios said.

“The other resident, who had been in the bedroom, was dragged into the lounge and then back to the bedroom by the armed suspects. Their laptop and cellphone were taken during the robbery,” Mathios said. Other valuables stolen included two more cellphones, a second laptop, a CCTV screen, four watches, a bracelet and keys to a vehicle.

“No shots were fired during the violent incident but medical treatment was administered on the scene by paramedics. The resident had sustained some head injuries but declined transport to hospital. A domestic employee present in the house was not injured in the attack,” Mathios said. Umbilo SAPS attended the scene and the incident is under further investigations.
