On Wednesday, 25 May 2016 at about 08:00, members of Durban South Umlazi K9 unit , Sergeant Nkwanyana and Warrant Officer Maharaj were joined by the Metro police dog unit to attend to a complaint of housebreaking and theft in Athlone Park, Amanzimtoti.
The member used police patrol dog Maximas to search for the suspects.
Sergeant Nkwanyana conducted the search in the building and the dog, Maximas, apprehended two suspects who sustained dog bites after ignoring the officers’ warnings.
The suspects received medical treatment at the Wentworth Hospital and will be detained at Amanzumtoti SAPS.
