Robbed and stolen vehicles, 'Chop shop' discovered, Ladysmith

In the early hours of Monday, 13 August 2018, Ladysmith police acted on information about the vehicle that was traced by the tracking company in the Ezakheni area. Officers from the Ladysmith Visible Policing and K9 Unit rushed out to the Mansibilayo area.

A short while later they were joined by officers from the Zululand SAPS Cluster Task Team and Vryheid K9 Unit. These officers were hot on heels of the suspects who had committed a robbery in the Mondlo area, Vryheid on 12 August 2018.

During the operation two suspects were arrested, five vehicles including a truck with two trailers and other stripped vehicles were recovered. Recovered vehicles include suspects’ getaway Toyota RunX, an Isuzu bakkie and a VW Golf that was taken during the house robbery where the suspects allegedly assaulted the homeowner, took household items and loaded them into his two vehicles.

A Nissan Sentra that was stolen at Nondweni area in July 2016, and a delivery truck that was hijacked in May 2018 in Elandslaagte area where the truck driver was allegedly hijacked while carrying furniture.

Two suspects aged 46 and 47 were arrested and were charged for house robbery and possession of suspected stolen property.

They both appeared in the Ezakheni Magistrates’ Court where they were remanded in custody pending further police investigation. They will also be linked to Elandslaagte truck hijacking and Nondweni theft of motor vehicle case.
