Two siblings aged eight and ten were raped by their mother’s relative in KwaDabeka in 2016. The two minors stayed with their mother and their mother’s uncle’s house.
When the mother woke up one morning, she went to check up on her daughters who were sleeping in the lounge where she found the 37 year old uncle sexually abusing her 10 year old daughter.
Upon questioning her daughter about what was happening, the daughter told her that “mkhulu” has been abusing her. A case of rape was opened and was investigated by Pinetown FCS.
Further police investigations revealed that “mkhulu” had raped the child previously and that he had raped the eight year old girl as well.
He appeared in court and he was sentenced to 28 years imprisonment by the Pinetown Regional Court.
The KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki has welcomed the sentences and applauds the sterling detective work conducted by the officers who ensured that the perpetrators of such wicked crimes are brought to justice.
